How To Make Soap As A Hobby

By Gerard H Darrington

It is now pretty common for people to make their own soap. From time to time you will find that soap making is a much better alternative to buying expensive high street brands and on top of this you can choose exactly what colours and fragrances you use rather than being stuck with the fashion. Of course there is always that chance that you produce something amazing and maybe just maybe you manage to get it into a shop yourself.

There are several method that can be used to make soap however we are going to look at the melt and pour soup base option and the ten steps to success.

1. Always start by finding a really good soap base.

2. Prepare your workspace and make sure everything is clean.

3. Cut the soap into even chunks and choose suitable containers.

4. Gently melt the soap base down, a microwave is ideal for this.

5. Add your fragrance oils.

6. Add the colouring but make sure you don't add too much.

7. Stir the soap gently and make sure that you don't create any bubbles int he mix.

8. Pour your soap into the mod.

9. Let the soap set and then remove it from the mold.

10. Don't cure the soap as this is already done when your purchase a soap base.

Only take the above as a rough guide on how to create soap. If you think it looks easy then get a fuller description on how to create soap and make sure you buy the best ingredients. If a soap base looks cheap then it probably won't be that nice when you have made it. Also remember that it takes time to perfect a skill like making soaps so the first few times might not be great.

If you want some inspiration for creating soaps then get your children or friends involved. It is fun to do and when you have finished you have a great gift for a family member on their birthday, alternatively go for some self indulgence and keep the soap for yourself.
